“It’s the Summer of Weeds”

A joint initiative of the Laura Ag Bureau, UNFS Ag Tech Hub, and UNFS Laura/Gladstone Hub the event “It’s the Summer of Weeds – Improving summer herbicide application” will be held on the 22nd of February 2023 from 1pm onwards commencing at the Southern Flinders Sports Complex in Gladstone.

This event aims to:

• Support farmers in decision making for summer fallow weed control to conserve the soil moisture profile from a wet spring and see improved spray application throughout the district.
• New and existing technologies demonstrations to help increase adoption of spray technology that improve summer fallow weed management, reduces off target drift and improve herbicide application efficiency.

It will include:

• Static displays and presentations at Southern Flinders Sports Complex in Gladstone from 1pm.
• Paddock visits via bus to look at trial demonstrations including: 10 ha demo strips
• Machinery and technology demos On North side of Idlib Road
• Keynote speaker Ray Harrington – Farmer, innovator of Harrington Seed Destructor, member of GRDC green on green camera development group.
• Dinner at Southern Flinders Sports Complex for Networking opportunities & Keynote speaker
